Dr. K. Radha Krishna Murthy is Professor of Physiology at Santhiram Medical College, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh. He has been conferred as Fellow, Directorate of Endocrinology, IASR. Dr. K. Radha Krishna Murthy, through his pioneering research work has demonstrated the new life saving effects of insulin in patients stung by the most poisonous scorpion of Buthidae family. These toxic species of scorpions are commonly found in many “scorpion districts” in different States in India and more than 45 developing countries all over the world. Many millions of scorpion sting victims (infants, children, pregnant women, adult females, and adult males) die annually all over the world. In recognition of his significant contribution for the advancement and understanding of medical sciences, Dr. K. Radha Krishna Murthy has been awarded with D.Sc. (Doctor of Science) by University of Mumbai in 1994. Dr. Murthy has been made a Member of the International Society on Toxinology, New York Academy of Sciences, New York, National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) and of the working group on Natural Toxins, International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS), a sub-committee of World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Murthy has been invited by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to join the Task-Force on Venoms & Toxins for which he was made the convener. Dr. Murthy has also been invited by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to become a Member of Task-Force on Venoms & Toxins for the clinical trial of insulin and Anti-scorpion venom serum (AScVS) to treat the scorpion envenoming syndrome. Dr. Murthy had been chosen as “Best Teacher” in 2005 and 2007 respectively by University of Mumbai and Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.
